At the Colney Heath Parish Council meeting held on Thursday 3rd August 2023, the Council put to the meeting its plans to rebrand the identity of the Parish and reintroduce a new version of the once popular Colney Heath Chronicle.

Councillor Pettit put forward the forward his designs for how the logo would look if adopted by the Council. Laying out the vision that a new logo would underpin the new parish area and support the new Council’s appetite for change, as well as highlighting the change to residents.

The design for the new logo is based on the silhouette of a very familiar sight within the Parish, that of the Red Kite. The Parish hosts several breeding pairs, and the distinctive angled wings and forked tail can be seen regularly in the skies above the four areas, Colney Heath, Sleapshyde, Smallford and Tyttenhanger Green, that make up our Parish.

The logo is a fresh new look for the Parish and is highly distinctive, in keeping with Councillor Pettit’s vision. This rebrand should is now on the Parish Council’s website, www.colneyheathparishcouncil.gov.uk.

This theme will be carried on in the soon to be published first edition of the new Parish Council magazine, ‘The Kite’. This magazine will be an A4 format booklet aimed at communicating with the residents of the Parish, keeping the residents of the Parish informed of the important news and events that occur in the Parish.

There are also regularly planned sections for local community groups, such as 4ColneyHeath, the Smallford Residents Association, Colney Heath Village Hall and our own Charles Morris Hall, providing these groups a forum to pass information to the Parish as a whole.

Currently scheduled to be published in next week, the Council hopes that this will provide space to advertise local businesses, with the longer-term goal being that ‘The Kite’ will be self-funded through the paid advertising. If you own a local business and would be interested in advertising in ‘The Kite’ please contact, our local Councillor at cllrparish@colneyheathparishcouncil.gov.uk.
